Carnegie

This time, the Carnegie street festival was just too hard to resist. Unfortunately (again....) it was raining the entire weekend and we had a bit of trouble taking photos. One of us, who shall remain anonymous, although her real name sounds like Sharer, didn't take any photos at all. So, last weeks project is extending to a two week project. But then, Carnegie obviously has way more to offer than could possibly be captured in a single weekend of shooting...

Dale's view
The Koornang Rd statue of a man doing something strange and cruel to a giant abalone-like creature. If you come to Carnegie, you simply must not miss this!

The Rossy! (aka The Rosstown hotel). Its how you tell the taxi drivers where Carnegie is...

The Carnegie library, with a Carnegie resident exiting. This is our home away from home.

 Carnegiopoly

You're so good looking.

Poor laughing clowns - had to keep up appearances despite all that rain

A scarlet street performer for the Carnegie Fair

Outside one of Carnegie's many Asian groceries. 8 at last count!

The Carnegie arcade which sometimes doubles as the Carnegie river

Cho Cherry Oh Cherry Oh Baby

The discount lolly shop - an absolute must for anyone who likes a nice bit of chocky

Carnegie is home to some of the most beautiful lamp-post art in the Southern Hemisphere

Russian Tidbits - the place to go when you are after Gypsy Ham, Polski Ogorki, or any smelly but edible food... but take a number, and be prepared to wait, its very popular.

Sinbad's second hand bookstore. More books than Borders, in a room as big as the Borders elevator.

The very mysterious South China Restaurant plus "Take Way" service. In the 13 years I've been in this neighborhood, I've never seen a single person go in or out....

Two more additions to my 'Terminator 2' theme (in 'The Weird Shop' on Koornang)

All day, all night, even while we sleep, they sit quietly in the window of the weird shop, hand in hand watching the world go by...
...update. I walked past there again more recently - they weren't holding hands any more...

Santucci's restaurant - a Carnegie icon, complete with comfy chairs, old furniture, a toy box for kids, and occasional live music

Carnegie primary school artwork displayed on Koornang Rd

Even the lamp-posts are beautifully graffitied

A little cluster of Asian restaurants, just up the road from a much larger cluster of Asian restaurants.

Looking North on Koornang Road - the main drag through Carnegie

Shyun - one of the many crowded restaurants on Koornang Rd.

Gabriella's Pizza. The oldest, and still the best...maybe. Note - it seems they have an exciting courtyard.

Debbie's view

The little Greek cake shop

A Carnegie institution, Russian Tidbits. Kransky anyone?

As you can see, Carnegie is a fashion hotspot. The local opportunity shop.

Fantastic food and service at 7 & 7.

A mosaic of tantalising Chinese treats.

Venus, yeh baby she's got it
